23-01-2012    - Jack Moody has recently resigned from TFFC and has kindly offered to dinghy at the farm on a "first-come-first-served" basis.  Please contact Jack on 082-441-8790 if interested.

26-11-2011    - Vic Dean and Selwyn Rogoff showing us they still have what it takes.  Both caught out of Dam 3, awesome brown and rainbow.

01-11-2011    - From Darryn Lahner.  "As a point of interest for the fishermen, I attached a photo of a lovely “brown” that I caught on Friday evening at dusk. I was fishing a         bright lime green fritz with a short black marabou tail on a sinking line off the new jetty closest to the wall on dam 1. It was longer than my net (which I measured on the ruler to be 62cm, give or take a cm) and weighed 3.1kgs on my digital scale. She was a brute of a fish and I am happy to say that she was very well revived and swam off quite comfortably to live another day and hopefully get bigger."

Also Darryn lost a wooden net (see picture below) at the farm on the weekend of 29-30 October 2010.  If anyone has found it, please email webmaster@tffc.co.za and I'll let Darryn know.

11-10-2011    - Fanie Lategan achieved the "Middelpunt Challenge" this weekend past.  A fish caught in each dam.  What's even more impressive is they were caught before 10:30 in the morning and all on the same fly.  Well done!!  And on a trusty Black Woolly Bugger..

03-10-2011    - We regret to announce the passing of Sheila Brittain's father, Norma Brittain.  Our sincere condolences to Sheila and her family. Norman's Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday the 5th of October at 11:00 at Huis Hoeveld, Plein Street, Albertville for those who knew Norman and wish to attend.

19-09-2011    - DAM 4 1/2 BACK IN ACTION.  Many of you will remember learning to fish in dam 4 1/2.  This dam is just below Dam 6.  After a recent request, Peter has stocked 4 fish into the dam.  This dam was always intended as one that kids could gain their fishing confidence on, so we ask that only kids be allowed to fish it.  If you catch a fish out of this dam, please make sure to note it on the fishing record.

12-09-2011    - Please note that the 2011 AGM will NOT be held on the 6th of November as first indicated due to a venue availability problem.  It will now be held on the 13th of November at the Sandton Field and Study Centre.  This change in date will be emailed to members shortly.

26-07-2010    - Some more info on Cherylee's success at the Commonwealth Games:

“The SA lady Cherylee Powell was the top woman angler in the Wales 2010 Commonwealth Competition, and
came 10th overall against the men, a truly stunning performance from her."

In the 11 teams,
Australia World team won Gold
England Silver
Scotland Bronze

South Africa 5th
Wales Dragons 6th
Wales Kites 7th

What makes the results of SA team highly recommendable is the following:
We beat the 2 local Welsh Teams
Australia, that won the gold, came from the world champs, So they had a 3 week prep time.
Australia's second team, came 2 weeks ahead to scout the waters and do prep work.
We arrived 5 days before and half the team had some serious viruses etc.
Cherylee arrived the day the competition started, and had no practice sessions!

The SA ladies team did well, winning a session or 2 and being voted the friendship team of the tournament. 

Cherylee Powell, had a very good tournament. Simon Kidd, a member of the England National side, lost 2 sessions to her.
Some might say, it is the luck of the draw, maybe, but if the fish is in your peg, you still have to get them to take your fly, set the hook and land the fish.
A couple of the international guys could not do that, so well done to Cherylee.”

13-07-2010    - Please be careful when placing wood next to the coal stoves.  There is enough heat generated out the side of the stove to potentially ignite the wood.  This nearly happened in the shareholders block recently when a smouldering piece of wood was discovered that could have caused a major problem.  Please keep an eye out and make sure there's sufficient space between the stove and the pile.

05-07-2010    - TFFC was represented at the Bells Corporate Trophy Challenge in Nottingham Road in the 3rd leg.  Although the team did not make the final, great fishing was had, lots of Bells consumed and we even managed to walk away with a few prizes.  We definitely would like to make this a regular trip and hope more TFFC members are able to make the trip for 2011.  Team was (left to right), Hugh Dean, Vic Dean, Craig Lowe (guest) and Kieron Dean.

29-06-2010    - Congratulations are extended to Cherylee Powell for her amazing performance at the Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships in Wales.  In an overall field of 58 (men and women), Cherylee came 10th and the ladies team came 1st, beating Scotland.  An awesome achievement!!!

21-06-2010    - Further info published about the anchor worm problem currently being experienced at the farm.  Click here for the info.  Please note that the catch limit from Dam 1 is dropped with immediate effect, however the daily overall limit remains.

08-06-2010    - Congrats to Cherylee Powell for being selected to represent SA at the Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships in Wales to be held from the 22nd to the 26th of June.  We wish her the best of luck.  Click here for more info on the Championships.  Cherylee is second from the left in the photograph below.

18-01-2010    - A branch from the old Oak Tree behind the house nearly takes out a bakkie.

04-12-2009    - Please note that there have been repeated power outages at the farm recently.  Please go prepared.  The problem is not at Middelpunt but somewhere on the Machado - Dullstroom lines which are supposed to be upgraded fairly soon.

09-11-2009    - Congrats to Cherylee Powell for coming second in the Ladies Nationals 2009 at The Bend in kZN.  Her Limpopo team also won the Nationals title.
